I am a visual artist who began her artistic journey as a photographer. My work revolves around the themes of nature, the connection between humans and the environment and the dimensions of time and transience. Nature itself is often my ‘studio’. Without the use of cameras, I create photograms through long exposures - an interplay of sun, water and wind. These works are created in direct, physical contact with the environment or the human body. The exposure process can take minutes, hours or even days, and the result always remains unpredictable - like life itself. My focus is on long-term projects that go beyond the visible surface. They illuminate the interior, the structure and the aura of what is depicted. This applies to works with plant objects and natural elements as well as large-format bodygrams of human bodies. The viewer is invited to look inwards. For the realisation of my works, I mainly use the historical, analogue process of cyanotype, which I have been working with intensively for many years. My artistic practice centres on the relationship between man and nature and the transformation of traces of nature into visual poetry. By combining analogue photography with painterly approaches and mindfulness, I create works in which nature itself ‘paints’. Wind, water and sediment characterise the structures of my works. They tell of transience, change and the fragility of our environment. My works aim to raise awareness of the beauty and fragility of nature and inspire a mindful approach to it.
